Learning Support Assistant – Term‑time Supply

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Horsham on a term‑time supply basis. You will work closely with teachers to support individual pupils or small groups, particularly those in Reception and Year 1 with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support groups or individual pupils with learning activities set by the teacher.
• Prepare and develop resources tailored to specific needs.
• Maintain effective communication with the class teacher about pupil progress.
• Assist in planning and assessment activities.
• Deliver specialist interventions as directed by the Inclusion Leader.
• Help SEN pupils integrate socially and academically.
• Manage pupil behaviour in line with the school’s policy.
• Adapt the learning environment to suit individual requirements.
• Provide midday supervision, set up activities and administer first aid (training provided).
• Participate in professional development, INSET days and progress meetings.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children in an educational setting, especially those with SEN.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Flexibility to undertake a variety of tasks to meet school needs.
