Learning Support Key Worker – Pastoral & SEMH

About the role

This temporary, term‑time position supports vulnerable learners across Dovetail & Slate’s regional campuses. You will act as the primary pastoral contact for students with EHCPs, SEMH needs and other additional requirements, helping them stay engaged and succeed academically.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a consistent point of contact for up to 50 at‑risk learners, building trust and resilience.
• Deliver small‑group, trauma‑informed interventions to improve attendance and manage behaviour.
• Develop and monitor individual support plans and contribute to annual EHCP reviews.
• Use de‑escalation techniques to address anxiety‑related non‑attendance.

Required profile

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Level 3+ qualification in education, youth work or a related field.
• Experience in a school, college, PRU or alternative provision setting.
• Ability to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of trauma‑informed and de‑escalation practices.
• Experience developing and reviewing EHCPs.

What we offer

• Term‑time only contract (38 weeks) with flexible full‑time or part‑time hours.
• Hourly rate of £20‑£22 via umbrella.
• Potential to progress to a permanent role within the wider educational group.
