Learning Support Mentor

About the role

We are recruiting a Learning Support Mentor for a well‑established further education college in Cambridge. The role supports learners with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities within construction and motor‑vehicle programmes, helping them access study, develop independence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality learning support to students with additional needs across workshops, classrooms and off‑site activities.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and curriculum teams to ensure full access to programmes.
• Support learners with study skills, organisation, assistive technologies and independent learning strategies.
• Promote confidence, resilience, self‑advocacy and safe participation in practical environments.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor progress and contribute to reviews of support strategies.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people or adults in education, training, care or support settings.
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Patient, flexible and supportive approach with strong organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Interest in construction and/or motor‑vehicle environments.

Required skills

• Proficient IT skills.
• Experience using assistive technologies.
