Lecturer – English (GCSE & Functional Skills)

About the role

Carshalton College is seeking a passionate Lecturer in English to deliver GCSE English Language and English Functional Skills to learners aged 16‑19. You will play a key part in preparing students for examinations, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their overall progress.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a combination of GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English.
• Prepare students for exams, mark homework and mock exams, and deliver feedback.
• Set learning targets, monitor attendance and progress, and contribute to curriculum development where appropriate.

Required profile

• Degree or relevant professional qualification in English or a related subject.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills.
• High personal standards, awareness of academic quality, and ability to motivate and empathise with learners.
• Energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for education.

• Salary: £40,972 – £49,191 per annum for a full‑time 36‑hour role; £20,486 – £24,595 for a 0.5 FTE 18‑hour role.
