Lecturer in Built Environment (Fixed‑Term, 12 months)

About the role

Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment seeks a Lecturer in Built Environment on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The successful candidate will teach and develop programmes that reflect the digital transformation of the construction sector.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, student‑centred teaching across modules such as Cost Planning, Whole Life Costing, Commercial Management, Procurement, Contract Administration, BIM and Digital Cost Management.
• Contribute to curriculum design and the expansion of the Built Environment portfolio.
• Monitor and support student progress in collaboration with Academic Skills and other university services.
• Conduct independent research, applying for external funding and supervising PhD students where appropriate.

Required profile

• Expertise in Quantity Surveying and the Digital Built Environment.
• Experience teaching at higher education level or equivalent professional background.
• Ability to develop innovative, digitally‑focused course material.
• Strong research orientation with potential to secure funding.
