About the role

The Lecturer in Electrical Maintenance Engineering joins the TTE Engineering team at Middlesbrough College to deliver high‑quality teaching across Level 3 BTEC and City & Guilds T‑Level programmes. You will work in both classroom and workshop settings, shaping learners’ technical abilities and professional behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a programme of study that meets the diverse needs, interests and abilities of all students.
• Create a safe, engaging workshop and classroom environment appropriate to student maturity.
• Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources aligned with best practice and industry standards.
• Design and implement an assessment programme that complies with Middlesbrough College standards.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify strengths and needs, providing targeted intervention.
• Participate in internal verification and prepare for awarding‑body visits.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure workshop safety for all learners.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – required for progression beyond point 11.
• Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) – required for progression beyond point 14.
• Experience teaching electrical engineering or related technical subjects at Level 3.
• Commitment to the college’s core values and the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.

• Salary on the Lecturer Scale from £29,565 to £43,562 per annum, subject to progression criteria.
