About the role
Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Applied Sciences is seeking a full‑time, permanent Lecturer in Life Sciences. The role combines high‑quality teaching with active research, allowing you to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while developing your own scholarly agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver and develop teaching modules across molecular, cellular and biomedical sciences for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise research projects, including honours dissertations, masters theses and PhD candidates.
- Design and implement new curricula and innovative learning activities, such as distance‑learning and public‑engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to research teams and centres, particularly the Centre for Biomedicine and Global Health.
- Seek external research funding and maintain a strong publication record.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to foster interdisciplinary approaches.
Required profile
- Doctoral level qualification in a relevant Life Sciences discipline (e.g., molecular, cellular, biomedical or human physiological sciences).
- Evidence of high‑quality publications, preferably recent, and a track record of attracting external research income.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and assessment at multiple levels.
- Ability to enhance and complement existing research strengths within the School.
- Commitment to innovative teaching practices and student project supervision.
