Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Philosophy

About the role

Loughborough University is recruiting a full‑time, open‑ended Lecturer (Grade 7) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 8) in Philosophy. The position is hybrid, supporting teaching and research within the popular Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) BA programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate lectures and seminars across philosophy, politics and economics, including introductory philosophy and history of philosophy.
• Supervise and mentor students on dissertations and projects within the PPE framework.
• Develop and maintain an active research profile that bridges philosophy with social science and economics.
• Contribute to departmental administration, curriculum development and community outreach.

Required profile

• High calibre academic with a PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise across the interdisciplinary PPE spectrum.
• Research interests that intersect politics, philosophy and economics (e.g., philosophy of science, moral or political philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of language).
• Willingness to indicate clearly in the supporting statement whether applying for the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer post.
