Legal Cashier – Full‑time, Hybrid (Lancaster)

About the role

We are recruiting a Legal Cashier for a well‑established law firm in Lancaster. The position is office‑based initially, moving to a hybrid model after a successful probation period. It offers a chance to develop a long‑term career in legal finance within a supportive, employee‑owned environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client and office account transactions in line with SRA Accounts Rules.
• Process receipts, payments, bank transfers, CHAPS and BACS transactions.
• Post financial entries to client and office ledgers and perform bank reconciliations.
• Monitor client account balances, process completion statements and property transaction payments.
• Handle supplier invoices, office expenses and assist with billing and credit control.
• Support month‑end and year‑end procedures, audits and regulatory compliance checks.
• Maintain accurate, confidential financial records and liaise with fee earners, clients, banks and suppliers.

Required profile

• Experience as a Legal Cashier, Legal Accounts Assistant or within a legal finance environment (preferred).
• Alternatively, experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk or Accounts Administrator seeking a legal finance career.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability and capacity to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
