Legal Cashier

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join the Accounts Team at Richard Nelson LLP in Nottingham. The role ensures the firm’s financial operations run smoothly and remain fully compliant with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules. You will work closely with the Cashiering Team Supervisor, Office Manager and legal professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily financial transactions, including raising cheques and posting business incomings and outgoings.
• Prepare and issue client bills, credit notes and consultants’ schedules.
• Maintain purchase ledger, perform bank reconciliations and carry out credit control duties.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end reporting, including VAT return preparation and submission.
• Enter data accurately into accounting systems and ensure compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
• Support partners, solicitors and legal assistants with fee‑note management and payment plans.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience working in a legal or professional services accounting environment.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced setting.
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools.
