Legal Counsel – Banking (Leeds)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Banking Solicitor to join a leading European private credit and alternative investment manager in Leeds. The Legal Counsel – Banking will provide commercially‑focused advice on complex lending and bridge finance transactions, supporting strategic business decisions across our investment and credit teams.

Key responsibilities

• Advising on bridge lending, banking and secured finance transactions.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating facility agreements, security documents, guarantees, intercreditor agreements and ancillary finance documentation.
• Managing transactions from instruction through to completion, including funding and drawdown arrangements.
• Providing commercial legal advice to lending, credit and investment stakeholders.
• Identifying and managing legal and regulatory risks associated with lending transactions.
• Developing and maintaining lending documentation, legal precedents and internal processes.
• Building strong relationships with colleagues, clients and external advisers.

Required profile

• A solicitor with at least 4 years post‑qualification experience in banking and finance or secured lending.
• Proven experience advising on banking, specialist lending or other finance transactions.
• Strong commercial mindset with excellent drafting, negotiation and legal analysis skills.
• Ability to balance legal, regulatory and commercial considerations effectively.
• Confident in managing relationships with senior business stakeholders.
• Organised, proactive and able to handle competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiating finance documentation such as facility agreements and security documents.
