Legal Counsel – Data Protection & Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to lead our data protection and compliance initiatives in the United Kingdom. You will act as the trusted advisor on all aspects of UK data protection law, ensuring that our business meets regulatory requirements while supporting new projects and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Act as trusted legal advisor on UK data protection law, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
• Manage data subject requests and maintain the UK Record of Processing Activities.
• Oversee and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and Legitimate Interest Assessments.
• Support creation, update and maintenance of privacy notices.
• Advise on international data transfers and serve as primary contact with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
• Provide legal support on commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating customer and supplier agreements, software licences, service agreements and distribution contracts.
• Assist with compliance programmes covering anti‑corruption, anti‑money laundering, antitrust and AI governance.
• Develop and deliver training programmes to raise legal and compliance awareness across the business.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with post‑qualification experience in commercial law.
• Proven experience advising on UK data protection matters and interacting with the ICO.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Experience with compliance programmes and technology‑related projects is advantageous.
• Highly organised, professional and able to manage competing priorities.
