Legal Officer

About the role

Transport for the North is seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented Legal Officer to join its Legal & Democratic Services and Procurement team. You will support the organisation’s legal, contractual, procurement and governance functions across a broad portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legally compliant advice and high‑quality administrative support within a legal, governance or procurement environment.
• Maintain contract and governance records, databases and document‑management systems.
• Coordinate documentation and processes for committees and formal decision‑making.
• Independently manage low‑value procurement processes within agreed thresholds, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and Contract Procurement Rules.
• Act as the designated Information Officer for TfN.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience delivering effective legal advice and administrative support in a legal, governance or procurement setting.
• Proven ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to handle competing demands.
