Legal Operations Manager

About the role

The Legists is a legal campaigning organisation that represents clients, advises the Good Law Project (GLP) on funding decisions, and manages campaign‑related risks. The Legal Operations Manager will act as the bridge between the legal and finance teams, ensuring smooth administrative processes, financial oversight, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate operational financial oversight into the legal team’s daily workflow.
• Gather, analyse and interpret complex data to support budgeting, financial estimating and legal spend management.
• Maintain and improve systems for information gathering, data management and regulatory reporting.
• Support senior leadership by removing administrative bottlenecks and providing clear, actionable insights.
• Assist with SRA compliance, KYC onboarding and AML framework implementation.
• Explore and pilot AI tools that can enhance legal operations efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in legal operations, legal practice management or a closely related field.
• Commercially minded with a strong interest in mission‑driven, non‑profit environments.
• Curious, proactive and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, impact‑focused setting.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and data‑management capabilities.
• Financial modelling, budgeting and legal spend tracking.
• Knowledge of SRA compliance, KYC onboarding and AML frameworks.
• Experience or interest in applying AI to legal operations.
