Level 1 Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading facilities management company on a static site in Oxford. This full‑time position offers a clear progression path and comprehensive training within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and complete associated paperwork and reports.
• Respond to reactive and emergency breakdowns, documenting all actions taken.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota to provide 24/7 coverage.
• Oversee visiting sub‑contractors, ensuring work meets health and safety standards.
• Perform daily PPM tasks on UPS systems, plumbing and drainage, boiler rooms, cooling towers, fan coil units/AHUs, and heating pumps.

Required profile

• City & Guilds or NVQ Mechanical qualification (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a commercial facilities environment with solid building‑services knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Eligibility to pass a DBS check.
