Level 1 SEND Teaching Assistant (Part‑time)

About the role

The Hillcrest Academy is seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis covering maternity leave. You will work closely with senior staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons tailored for SEND pupils.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to enhance pupil engagement.
• Help manage pupil behaviour and maintain a safe classroom atmosphere.
• Support the preparation of learning materials and resources.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to monitor progress and report observations.

Required profile

• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Experience caring for or working with children of primary‑school age.
• Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
• Availability Wednesday afternoons to Friday.
