Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Nursery (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support a primary school nursery in Leigh for a 12‑month maternity cover starting September 2026. This full‑time position offers the chance to work closely with a class teacher to create a safe, stimulating environment for young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Support child‑initiated play and deliver adult‑led activities aligned with the EYFS curriculum.
• Observe and assess children’s development, recording progress milestones.
• Foster an inclusive, warm classroom atmosphere.
• Assist with outdoor play, creative arts, phonics and number work.
• Provide personal care with dignity and respect.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years, or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in an EYFS or nursery setting.
• Creative, energetic, and patient approach to supporting young children.
• Strong communication skills for building relationships with children, staff, and parents.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in the UK and two professional references.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Ability to plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities.
• Observation and assessment skills for early childhood development.
