LGV Driver / Loader

About the role

As an LGV Driver / Loader for FCC Environment you will operate a 26‑tonne refuse/recycling vehicle on the Burnley contract, leading a small crew of loaders and ensuring safe, efficient waste collection.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a up‑to‑26‑tonne rigid refuse/recycling vehicle.
• Collect a range of waste streams including residual, food, glass, cans, plastic, paper and card.
• Lead and coordinate a team of up to three loaders.
• Perform daily vehicle checks, complete required documentation and manage incident reporting.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures at council tipping points.
• Assist with loading, depot and vehicle cleaning, and sorting glass boxes when needed.
• Work flexibly to meet operational demands.

Required profile

• Valid Category C driving licence.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Completion of 35 hours Driver CPC training.
• Reliable, trustworthy and courteous with the public.
• Ability to take initiative, follow instructions and lead a small team.
• Knowledge of the Burnley area is a plus.

Required skills

• Category C licence.
• Digital tachograph operation.
• Driver CPC certification (35 hours).
