LGV & HGV Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced LGV & HGV Technician to join a respected commercial‑vehicle specialist in Reading. You will work on a wide variety of heavy goods and light goods vehicles, performing diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance to keep the fleet safe and road‑worthy.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed vehicle inspections and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Repair engines, transmissions, brake systems, steering, suspension and other critical components.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tyre checks, replacements and fluid top‑ups.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules and record vehicle performance data.
• Provide cost estimates, timelines and post‑repair test drives.
• Maintain accurate service records in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Communicate repair needs and status with the Workshop Controller and service team.

Required profile

• Proven experience with HGV, LGV, military or plant machinery.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work safely and comply with company standards.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training and certification.
