Liability Claims Handler (Hybrid)

About the role

Sedgwick is recruiting Liability Claims Handlers / Desktop Liability Adjusters across the UK, working from the office or home. You will manage a varied caseload of Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) injury claims, and Third Party Property Damage claims, investigating policy coverage and legal liability, negotiating and settling claims on behalf of the insurer and its corporate clients, and handling claims through to conclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate allegations made against policyholders and provide detailed liability advice
• Gather and assess evidence, identify potential fraud risks and keep accurate records and correspondence
• Negotiate and settle claims, and manage litigated files where required
• Maintain proactive communication with all parties and serve corporate clients, small businesses, insurers and brokers

Required profile

• Knowledge of contract, statute and civil liability
• Insurance qualifications are desirable, but relevant experience is equally valued
• Ability to work independently and with corporate clients, insurers and brokers

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of current case law, common law/statutes and regulations
• Good understanding of insurance law and policy wording interpretation
• Strong investigation skills, attention to detail and clear, concise communication
• Team working, influencing and empathetic listening skills
