About the role
The Bodleian Humanities Library is seeking a part‑time Library Assistant to deliver high‑quality front‑line services. You will welcome visitors, manage admissions, issue and return materials, and help users access both print and electronic resources.
Key responsibilities
- Provide courteous service to readers and visitors at the library desk.
- Handle admissions procedures, issue and return library items, and respond to enquiries.
- Support shelving, stock management and routine technical services, including moving boxes and using ladders or kick‑stools.
- Assist users in locating and accessing print and digital resources.
Required profile
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- GCSE level education or equivalent.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work accurately and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and move books safely.
- Reliability, discretion and a commitment to excellent library service.
Required skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
