About the role
Christ Church at the University of Oxford is hiring reliable, customer‑focused Library Clerks to cover evenings, weekends and bank holidays when the regular library team is not on site. You will be the first point of contact for library users, providing friendly assistance and helping them navigate the SOLO online catalogue.
Key responsibilities
- Open and close the library according to the rota schedule.
- Monitor facilities, equipment and maintain a secure, welcoming study environment.
- Process and shelve books, handle returns and reshelving tasks.
- Respond to reader enquiries and support the use of the SOLO catalogue.
- Conduct regular floor checks, headcounts and hand over duties to colleagues.
Required profile
- Organised and able to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Reliability and a customer‑service mindset.
Required skills
- Familiarity with the SOLO library catalogue system.
What we offer
- £14 per hour on a part‑time, fixed‑term contract.
