Lifeguard / Recreation Assistant – Pool Operations

About the role

GLL is seeking enthusiastic Lifeguards to join the team at Kempston Pool, Bedford. This role blends water safety responsibilities with customer‑focused service, offering a pathway to a long‑term career in recreation.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate across pool areas to supervise swimmers and ensure safety.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck and surrounding facilities.
• Set up and manage pool equipment for daily operations.
• Provide first‑class customer service and address visitor queries.
• Support other centre areas such as studios, gyms, and sports halls with preparation and general upkeep.

Required profile

• Calm under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for helping people.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.
• Team‑player attitude with a can‑do mindset.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or willingness to obtain it after a swim test.
