Lift and Escalators Service Engineer

About the role

As a Lift and Escalators Service Engineer you will join Schindler’s UK & Ireland team to keep elevators, escalators and moving walks operating safely and efficiently. You will work on a variety of multi‑brand equipment, performing routine maintenance and responding to breakdowns across the South East England region.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, minor repairs and component replacements following company procedures.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on lifts and escalators, using technical manuals and test equipment.
• Perform functional checks on speed, motor start/stop, load, noise, temperature and power supplies.
• Complete service documentation and inspection reports after each visit.
• Conduct site surveys and advanced fault‑finding when required.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in lift/escalator maintenance.
• Proven experience in lift or escalator servicing, maintenance or repairs.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and operate independently.
• Good communication skills for interaction with clients and internal teams.

• Advanced electrical knowledge for multi‑brand lift equipment.
• Advanced mechanical knowledge for escalator systems.
• Fault finding and diagnostic techniques.
• Use of specialised test equipment and hand/power tools.
• Manual dexterity for repetitive lifting and tool handling.
