Lift Service Improver – Entry Level

About the role

The Lift Service Improver will support the Lead Engineer in delivering lift repair, maintenance and upgrade projects across the South East England region. This entry‑level position offers on‑the‑job training leading to an NVQ Level 3 qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with routine servicing and minor repairs of lifts, including component replacement.
• Help rectify faults during breakdowns and verify correct functioning.
• Perform fault finding and diagnostic procedures using technical manuals and test equipment.
• Record work activities on a handheld device and adopt new real‑time reporting technologies.
• Progress towards NVQ Level 3 by attending assessments and completing required tasks.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, punctual and self‑motivated to learn.
• Good communication skills and fluent in English.
• Interest in engineering with logical and practical problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience in lift, escalator, electrical, mechanical or construction environments is a plus but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Fault diagnosis of lift equipment.
• Use of technical manuals and test equipment.
• Operation of handheld reporting devices.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
