Light Vehicle Engineer – 12‑Month Paid Upskilling Programme

About the role

We are seeking motivated Light Vehicle Engineers to join Shorterm Group’s 12‑month paid upskilling programme. The role combines hands‑on vehicle maintenance with structured training, preparing you to become a competent PSV Engineer. Successful candidates will work across several South‑East England sites on a rotating shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex maintenance on light‑vehicle fleets.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training sessions covering PSV standards, electric‑vehicle technology and HGV accreditation.
• Maintain accurate service records and comply with health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanics.
• At least three years of experience as a vehicle mechanic.
• Valid UK driver’s licence.
• Commitment to a 12‑month full‑time training schedule (4 days on, 4 days off).

What we offer

• Paid weekly salary ranging from £39,000 to £40,000 per year.
