Linesman Chargehand

About the role

Freedom Networks are seeking a field‑based Linesman Chargehand to lead a team on a variety of overhead line projects. You will be directly involved in constructing, maintaining and replacing electrical networks up to 33kV while developing your career in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Erect poles, change transformers and carry out all other overhead line work required on project sites.
• Construct, maintain and replace overhead electrical networks up to 33kV in line with company and client standards.
• Lead by example, work safely and follow all statutory safety requirements.
• Participate in risk assessments, report changes and highlight unsafe conditions.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure competence is kept up to date.
• Maintain issued vehicles, tools and equipment in good working order.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a linesperson, including work on dead networks and live LV work.
• Team‑player with a risk‑averse attitude and strong public interaction skills.
• Full UK driving licence and NRSWA Operative certification.
• Willingness to follow Freedom’s SHEQ policies and company values.

Required skills

• IPAF accreditation (training can be provided).
• Full driving licence.
• NRSWA Operative certification.
• Experience with live LV working and dead network projects.
