Linux (RHEL) System Administrator Internship – 6 months

About the role

Swift is offering a 6‑month paid internship in London for a motivated fresher to work on the administration and modernization of its enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment. The intern will gain hands‑on experience with Linux servers, containers, automation tools and database migration within a global financial‑services context.

Key responsibilities

• Perform RHEL operating system upgrades and apply security patches.
• Maintain and monitor enterprise Linux servers and virtual machines.
• Build, update and manage Podman and Docker container images.
• Assist with database migration and upkeep of MariaDB and MySQL instances.
• Develop and optimise Python, Shell, Perl and PHP scripts.
• Support infrastructure automation using Ansible and related tools.
• Document procedures, create inventory of processes, applications and containers.
• Participate in rollback procedures and workload migration to modern Linux platforms.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final‑year student with a strong interest in Linux system administration.
• Eager to learn and collaborate with senior engineers and DevOps teams.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
