Linux System Administrator – SUSE (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Sanderson is recruiting a Linux System Administrator to join a public‑sector transformation programme. The role focuses on rolling out SUSE Multi‑Linux Manager across a large, mixed Linux/Windows estate. It is a 12‑month contract, primarily remote, supporting a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the deployment of SUSE Manager / SMLM to hundreds of virtual Linux machines.
• Automate patching, configuration and lifecycle management using existing SaltStack tooling.
• Integrate SUSE Manager with Docker, Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB services.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain compliance and NPPV3 clearance requirements.
• Document processes and provide knowledge transfer to the wider operations team.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with SUSE Manager or SMLM in an enterprise setting.
• Strong background in Linux system administration (SUSE, Red Hat or similar).
• Familiarity with SaltStack or comparable configuration‑management tools.
• Ability to obtain or already hold NPPV3‑level security clearance.
