Loading Shovel Operative

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Loading Shovel Operative to join our team at Nosterfield Sand and Gravel Quarry in North Yorkshire. The role involves operating a wheeled loading shovel to load wagons, blend aggregates and support daily quarry operations while upholding the highest health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a busy stockyard, loading wagons and blending materials to specification.
• Operate mobile plant machinery, including a wheeled loading shovel.
• Work with aggregates to support daily quarry production.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely, quality deliveries to customers.
• Carry out site safety, geotechnical and maintenance inspections.
• Promote a zero‑harm culture and adhere to health, safety and environmental requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in quarrying, aggregates or similar industrial environment.
• Proactive, safety‑conscious attitude with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and flexible to operational needs.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Required skills

• Wheeled Loading Shovel licence (essential).
