Locomotive Fitter

About the role
The Locomotive Fitter will carry out servicing, maintenance and fault finding of locomotives, components and equipment at our Leeds depot. The role ensures safe, reliable rolling stock in line with company availability and reliability targets.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, service, fault‑find and repair locomotives according to approved maintenance plans.
- Complete all required paperwork and record material usage accurately.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, Railway Group Standards and health & safety policies.
- Assist Team Leaders and participate in training and competency assessments.
- Support the upkeep of maintenance vehicle history files and general workshop cleanliness.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years experience with motor vehicles, HGVs, agricultural, military or traction rolling stock.
- Ability to make sound engineering decisions.
- Basic communication skills.

- Locomotive and rolling stock maintenance.
- Fault diagnosis and repair.
- Use of engineering tools and instrumentation.
