Machine Operative

About the role

This position involves operating and maintaining embroidery machinery for a reputable firm in Durham. You will work on a continental shift pattern, ensuring high‑quality embroidered garments are produced efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining embroidery machines to apply logos and emboss designs on garments.
• Threading reels, loading items and setting up a range of machinery and hand tools.
• Uploading programmes and artwork onto machines and monitoring performance.
• Inspecting finished garments, packing, labelling and bagging according to production drawings.
• Reporting any faults or issues and adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Physical fitness to stand for long periods and perform dexterous tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Attention to detail and problem‑solving mindset.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work alone or within a team.

Required skills

• Experience or willingness to work with embroidery machines.
• Proficiency with hand tools and machine set‑up.
• Capability to upload programmes and artwork onto equipment.
• Understanding of technical drawings.

• Continental shift pattern (4 days on / 4 days off) with a 06:00‑18:00 schedule.
• £12.71 per hour, weekly pay, overtime available.
