Machine Operator – Converting/FMCG

About the role

Northwood is looking for a motivated Machine Operator to join its high‑speed converting line in Ellesmere Port. You will work with state‑of‑the‑art equipment, uphold strict safety and quality standards, and contribute to the efficient production of recyclable paper products.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑use lifting and equipment guarding checks before each shift.
• Operate high‑speed, high‑volume converting machinery and perform quality inspections.
• Make electronic or manual adjustments to maintain product specifications.
• Identify and rectify minor defects or faults; escalate larger issues to the Shift Engineer or Cell Leader.
• Collect waste paper, load balers and coordinate batch deliveries to recycling mills.
• Suggest and implement cost‑saving or value‑adding improvements as part of continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Technical and proactive attitude with a focus on safety.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and perform basic fault finding.
• Experience in a converting environment or similar fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) setting.

Required skills

• Machine operation of converting equipment.
• Basic fault finding and preventive maintenance (PPM).
• Quality checking and adjustment of machinery settings.
