Machine Operator (Converting/FMCG)

About the role

Northwood is seeking a motivated Machine Operator to join its high‑speed converting line in Ellesmere Port. You will work with advanced machinery, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency while developing your technical skillset daily.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑use lifting and equipment guarding checks before each shift.
• Operate high‑speed, high‑volume converting machinery and perform electronic or manual adjustments as required.
• Conduct quality inspections and make real‑time corrections to maintain product standards.
• Perform basic fault finding and minor preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks to minimise downtime.
• Rectify minor defects on‑site and escalate more complex issues to the Shift Engineer or Cell Leader.
• Collect waste paper product, load balers and coordinate batch deliveries to recycling mills.
• Identify and suggest continuous‑improvement ideas for cost reduction and added value.

Required profile

• Technical and proactive approach to machine set‑up and safety.
• Experience working in a converting environment or similar FMCG production setting.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and health‑and‑safety guidelines.
