Machine Operator

About the role

An established manufacturer in the industrial sector is looking for a dedicated Machine Operator to join the Braintree team on the morning shift. The role starts as a temporary position with the possibility to become permanent after training, after which the shift moves to afternoons and the hourly rate increases.

Key responsibilities

• Run equipment to turn raw materials into finished components.
• Use tools to cut, shape, join, or finish materials.
• Carry out cleaning, deburring, and surface preparation tasks.
• Assemble parts and ensure components are aligned and secured correctly.
• Pick components from trays or bins and perform visual inspections.
• Comply with health and safety regulations such as COSHH.

Required profile

• Previous manufacturing experience (essential).
• Ability to handle manual handling tasks.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail to maintain product quality.
• Willingness to work afternoon shifts after training.

Required skills

• SAP (experience desirable).
• Handheld scanners (experience desirable).

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £12.71, rising to £15.25 after training.
• Training schedule: Monday‑Friday 09:45‑18:15.
• Post‑training shift: Monday‑Thursday 16:00‑00:00, Friday 15:00‑22:00.
• Temporary contract with the potential to become permanent.
