Machine Operator

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Machine Operator to join our recycling site in Bexley. You will be responsible for operating both mobile and fixed plant equipment to safely store and load waste streams for onward transport.

Key responsibilities

• Operate appropriate machinery and plant to maintain safe, efficient site operations.
• Perform daily and weekly equipment checks, refuelling, lubrication and report any defects.
• Keep the work area tidy, ensuring clear walkways and emergency exits.
• Check incoming loads for compliance with site licences and waste type permits.
• Report contamination, incidents, near‑misses, environmental hazards and health & safety breaches promptly.
• Carry out manual handling tasks and assist other operatives as directed.
• Undertake any required training to operate additional plant or perform supervisory duties.

Required profile

• Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience operating plant equipment such as loading shovels or telehandlers.
• Possession of a valid 360° A ticket for mobile/fixed plant operation.
• Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
