Machine Operator – Press Brake, CNC & Laser

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join a fast‑paced engineering and manufacturing business in Sparkford. You will work with a range of advanced press brake, CNC router and laser cutting equipment to produce high‑quality components.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate press brake, CNC router and laser cutting machinery.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished components, checking size, thickness and grade.
• Interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials, using nesting software to optimise material usage.
• Inspect, measure and deburr finished parts, sorting components by job and material type.
• Complete documentation to maintain quality standards and support on‑time delivery targets.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and record activities.
• Identify risks, contribute to continuous improvement and ensure health & safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating press brakes, CNC routers or laser cutting machines.
• Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Competent with measuring tools such as verniers, squares, protractors and tape measures.
• Knowledge of nesting software is advantageous.
• Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
