Machine Shop Operative

About the role

We are seeking a semi‑skilled Machine Shop Operative to join a global engineering manufacturer’s facility in Middleton. The role involves working with metal components in a busy machine shop, following high quality and health‑and‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deburr, polish and finish precision‑engineered components using hand tools and grinding equipment.
• Mark and paint parts as required.
• Perform production administration tasks and maintain general housekeeping.
• Operate within a rotating double‑day shift pattern with early finishes on Fridays.
• Adhere to quality control and health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in manufacturing or engineering, preferably in a machine‑shop or metal‑working environment.
• Proficiency with hand tools and grinding equipment.
• Ability to work to precise tolerances and follow documented processes.
• FLT (forklift) licence is desirable but not essential.

What we offer

• £18.77 per hour plus a 15 % shift allowance.
