Machining Cell Leader

About the role

The Machining Cell Leader will drive day‑to‑day performance of the machining cell, ensuring that quality, delivery and cost targets are met for VACGEN's UHV Surface Science, Industrial and Special Projects product lines. You will lead a team of production staff, coordinate with purchasing and planning, and champion continuous improvement across the cell.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all machining, manufacturing and finishing activities from raw material to final component.
• Motivate, train and delegate tasks to the production team, acting as the first point of contact for any issues.
• Monitor team attendance, work rate and attitude, addressing performance individually and collectively.
• Collaborate daily with Purchasing, Planning and other functional teams to keep production on schedule.
• Coordinate cross‑training, maintain the Training Matrix and identify skill gaps.
• Lead problem‑resolution initiatives and support new product introductions.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising a machining or manufacturing team.
• Strong ability to motivate staff and manage performance.
• Excellent communication with internal departments such as purchasing and planning.
• Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
