Maintenance Assistant / Gardener (Care Home)

About the role

As a Maintenance Assistant/Gardener at a Barchester care home, you will help create safe, attractive surroundings that support high‑quality resident care. You will maintain both the building and its gardens, ensuring they are presented to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine building maintenance tasks, including repairs and minor installations.
• Maintain gardens, lawns, flower beds and outdoor areas to a high aesthetic standard.
• Ensure health and safety standards are met across all indoor and outdoor environments.
• Work three 8‑hour days per week (08:00‑16:00) with no weekend duties.
• Use a personal vehicle when required; a valid driving licence is essential.

Required profile

• Previous experience in maintenance and gardening.
• Caring, patient nature with a genuine interest in supporting residents.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
