Maintenance Electrician – Prison Facility (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join the team at HMP Holme House in Stockton-on-Tees. This temporary, full‑time position involves maintaining and repairing domestic electrical systems within a secure prison environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
• Diagnose and replace failed domestic electrical components.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and ensure work follows the appropriate Safe System of Work.
• Fault‑find and problem‑solve on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
• Perform electrical installation activities in line with design specifications and IET Wiring Regulations.
• Test and inspect electrical installations according to current IEE wiring regulations.
• Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services.

Required profile

• Relevant technical qualifications such as City & Guilds 2365 (parts 1‑3), BTEC or NVQ Level 3 or higher.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations (18th or 19th Edition).
• Understanding of Electrical Systems and the Electricity at Work Regulations.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Successful completion of full prison security clearance and an enhanced DBS (if required).
• Valid passport or full birth certificate with photo driving licence, proof of National Insurance and recent proof of address.
• At least two satisfactory employment references.
