Maintenance Engineer (All Levels)

About the role

Our client is looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join the Packhouse team in Canterbury. The role involves maintaining and optimising machinery to ensure high‑quality, hygienic production and minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment in line with schedules.
• Log all work in the computer system and send end‑of‑shift handover emails.
• Complete required documentation and ensure compliance with BRC and customer audit standards.
• Report defects to the Head of Maintenance, Senior Engineer or Packhouse Operations Manager.
• Maintain a safe, cordoned‑off work area during engineering tasks.
• Support the engineering team by providing flexible cover when needed.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow hygiene standards.
• Previous experience in maintenance within a food or fresh‑produce environment.
• Computer literacy for logging jobs and completing paperwork.
• Awareness of food safety requirements.

Required skills

• Maintenance of packing machines and graders.
• Understanding of BRC audit requirements.

• Full‑time, permanent positions across three pay levels (£14‑£17.86 per hour).
