Maintenance Engineer – Electrical & Mechanical

About the role

Elis UK Limited is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its team in Reading. Reporting to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality maintenance work across electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on schedule and provide feedback for system improvement.
• Coordinate daily handovers with the opposite shift engineer, sharing updates and best practices.
• Identify long‑running problems, propose solutions and support continuous improvement of plant and machinery.
• Repair equipment safely and promptly while keeping production informed of progress.
• Carry out remedial engineering works as directed by the Engineering Manager.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (e.g., C&G).
• Apprenticeship with indentures preferred.
• Ability to build effective relationships across all management levels and work as part of a team.

• Electrical Installation – 18th Edition.
• Electrical Installation Maintenance.
• Mechanical Fabrication and Maintenance.
• Electronic fault finding to component level.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and steam systems.
