Maintenance Engineer

About the role
This is a permanent opportunity with a large, well‑invested manufacturing business in North Bristol. You will join a strong engineering team that drives reliability improvements, continuous improvement projects and group‑wide engineering initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and provide reactive breakdown support across a varied manufacturing plant.
- Maintain and improve a broad range of equipment including process plant, production machinery, pumps, valves, pipework, steam and heating systems, conveyors, automated equipment and three‑phase motor control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, variable speed drives, sensors, relays, contactors, control panels and PLC‑controlled equipment.
- Perform mechanical maintenance on bearings, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Lead root‑cause analysis, reliability improvements and equipment upgrades.
- Contribute to planned engineering projects, continuous improvement initiatives and wider group reliability programmes.
Required profile
- Experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work a 12‑hour rotating shift pattern (days and nights) with one full week off per rotation.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, focused on getting to the root cause of issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi‑skilled engineering team.
