Maintenance Engineer

About the role

ReAgent Chemical Services is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its on‑site team in Runcorn. You will be responsible for keeping critical process equipment running safely and efficiently in a chemical/industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and install tanks, agitators, pumps, gearboxes and mechanical drive systems.
• Service GEMÜ valves and electric/pneumatic actuators.
• Maintain water treatment plants including Reverse Osmosis, distilled and ozonated water systems.
• Perform pipefitting for stainless‑steel and plastic process piping (glued, welded or threaded).
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on 3‑phase and single‑phase equipment.
• Read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics to support plant modifications and upgrades.
• Uphold high housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience working in chemical, pharmaceutical, water‑treatment or similar industrial process environments.
• Familiarity with 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations; COMPEX/ATEX training and pipefitting or welding certifications are advantageous.

Required skills

• GEMÜ valve and actuator maintenance.
• Reverse Osmosis, distilled and ozonated water system knowledge.
• Pipefitting (stainless steel, plastic, air).
• 3‑phase and single‑phase electrical systems, motor and actuator troubleshooting.
• Reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
• Tank, agitator, pump and gearbox servicing.
