Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will lead the upkeep of Thornbury Castle Hotel, a 5‑star historic property, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests. Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will combine hands‑on maintenance work with coordination of external contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance (PPM) across all hotel facilities.
• Carry out general building maintenance, including painting, decorating, minor carpentry, and basic external works.
• Respond to maintenance requests from front‑office and housekeeping teams promptly.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well‑organized storage and workshop areas.
• Perform health and safety checks, fire alarm testing, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Undertake duty manager duties and support on‑call shifts as needed.

Required profile

• Motivated, detail‑oriented individual able to work independently.
• Strong communication skills to report issues to the Hotel Manager.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict time constraints.
• Experience in a hospitality or similar environment is advantageous.

• Health & safety compliance, including fire alarm testing.

What we offer

• Salary from £36,000, depending on experience.
• Additional share of service charge and tips (paid monthly).
• Full‑time permanent contract, 40 hours per week.
