Maintenance Manager

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Manager to lead the site engineering function at our Bedfordshire facility. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement to ensure plant reliability, optimise assets and uphold the highest operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of multi‑skilled engineers, including two direct reports, fostering continuous improvement and autonomous maintenance.
• Maintain high equipment availability through robust planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and minimise downtime.
• Prepare and manage the annual engineering operating budget and support capital projects from concept to commissioning.
• Collaborate with Production, Operations, Procurement and Quality teams to prioritise work, improve line efficiency and ensure seamless production continuity.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety and environmental regulations, including risk assessments and contractor controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an engineering or maintenance leadership role within a fast‑paced manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering (electrical qualification highly desirable).
• Strong coaching and mentoring ability with a data‑driven problem‑solving approach.
