Maintenance Operative – Residential Care Home

About the role
Oakland Care Group is looking for a reliable, proactive Maintenance Operative to join its residential care home in Littlehampton. You will work closely with the Properties and Facilities Manager to keep the building, grounds and equipment safe, comfortable and well‑presented for residents, visitors and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance and repair tasks throughout the care home.
- Perform routine maintenance and compliance checks, including water temperature monitoring and record‑keeping.
- Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and maintain testing documentation.
- Undertake weekly fire alarm testing and keep associated records.
- Operate integrated building systems such as Fireco door systems and nurse‑call devices.
- Repair furniture, fixtures, fittings and wheelchairs as required.
- Install and wall‑mount televisions and other equipment.
- Carry out painting, decorating, minor refurbishment and light gardening duties.
- Maintain workshops, storage areas and workspaces in a clean, safe and organised condition.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers and service providers, and receive deliveries safely.
- Support inspections, audits and regulatory visits by maintaining accurate records.
Required profile
- Reliable, proactive and practical approach to maintenance work.
- Commitment to health and safety, safeguarding and company policies.
- Willingness to attend mandatory training and work collaboratively with the facilities team.
Required skills
