Maintenance Operative – Silvermere Care Home

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Operative to join the award‑winning team at Silvermere Care Home in Cobham. You will be responsible for keeping the building and its grounds in excellent condition, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery and building work both inside and outside the home.
• Support new residents in arranging their rooms to meet personal preferences.
• Perform routine re‑decoration to maintain high standards throughout the facility.
• Monitor and order replacement goods, advising on quality and supply.
• Provide out‑of‑hours emergency service and participate in the on‑call rota.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience in a general maintenance or handyman role, or a relevant trade qualification.
• Full driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Flexibility to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
