Maintenance Person – Care Home

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Person to keep our care home safe, welcoming and well‑maintained for residents, staff and visitors. You will carry out statutory compliance checks, routine maintenance tasks and support health‑and‑safety standards across the building and grounds.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and record statutory compliance checks (fire safety, water temperature, emergency lighting, legionella, window restrictors, bed rails, equipment safety).
• Carry out minor repairs, painting, basic plumbing, joinery and general upkeep.
• Support health‑and‑safety audits and inspections, ensuring regulatory standards are met.
• Coordinate external engineers and tradespeople, monitoring quality and safety of their work.
• Maintain accurate logs, checklists and documentation for CQC and internal audits.
• Ensure outdoor areas, pathways, lighting and gardens are safe and tidy.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues to minimise disruption.

Required profile

• Experience in a maintenance or facilities role; care‑home experience is a plus.
• Good understanding of health‑and‑safety and compliance procedures.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and keep accurate records.
• Friendly, helpful and professional attitude when interacting with residents and staff.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
